 Kansas West Conference

 This picture was taken during a meeting of the clergy of the Kansas West Conference at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. Rev Mark Conard was making a presentation about "global health initiatives" and also the Chabadza Covenant partnership. The team had just seen a brief video of Bishop Scott Jones and Bishop Eben Nhiwatiwa, talking about Chabadza and its relationship to actual hoes. The photo was taken by Andrew Conard.

Rev Mark Conard had two hoes for presentation to each District Superintendent, believing that the principle of Chabadza means that you have one hoe for yourself and one for someone who may happen to pass along and join in your work. The stoles were made by Joyce Katsidzira at Old Mutare Mission. The hoes and stoles were presented on behalf of West Kansas Conference Chabadza Leadership Team.

The District Superintendents that are pictured are (from left to right):

• Gary Brooks, Wichita East District Superintendent. The Wichita East District is partnered with the Harare East District,
• Kendall Utt, Dodge City District Superintendent. The Dodge City district is partnered with the Chimanimani-Chipinge District.
• Janet Hernandez, Wichita West District. The Wichita West District is partnered with the Mutasa Nyanga District.
• Lew Van Der Wege, Salina District Superintendent. The Salina District is partnered with the Makoni Buhera District.
• Max Clayton, Hays District Superintendent. The Hays District is partnered with the Marange District. 

Not shown in the picture is Rick Saylor, Hutchinson District Superintendent.  The Hutchinson District is partnered with the Mutare District. [Rick was there. He just didn't happen to get included in the picture.]

Rev Mark Conard is at the microphone. The presentation has been completed, and the assembled pastors are applauding their superintendents for the work they already do--and for what they will do in implementing the partnership.

Connexio (and its predecessor Board of Foreign Missions) has been involved in Zimbabwe since the middle of the 1960s. The early years were characterized by the deployment of a number of medical missionaries to Nyadire, Old Mutare and Mutambara.
